Who we are

 CHOC

The Coordinated Homeless Outreach Center (CHOC) of Montgomery County, PA is a partnership between Montgomery County’s Office of Behavioral Health and Resources for Human Development (RHD). The CHOC serves homeless individuals that reside throughout Montgomery County regardless of race, gender, national origin, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation.  Though not part of Norristown State Hospital, it is located in the rear of Building 53 on the hospital grounds.

The CHOC is housed in two wings. The larger of the two is a day center where clients can meet with a caseworker, receive their mail, shower, wash clothes, access the internet, apply for benefits, attend groups including AA, NA, women’s groups, men’s groups, and health groups as well as many others that are geared to assist with personal goal attainment. This day center is open from 7 am to 9 pm. The smaller wing is a 50 bed overnight shelter that operates from 9 pm to 7 am. In addition to working with individuals utilizing the center, the CHOC is also involved with community outreach, education, and street outreach to homeless individuals.
